Landsburgia quercifolia, the most common of three species in this endemic New Zealand genus. Landsburgia is named after Rev. David Landsborough, a Scottish naturalist who published the beautifully illustrated “A Popular History of British Sea-Weeds” in 1857. The species name quercifolia refers to the attractive lobed blades, from the oak genus Quercus.

It’s remarkable that seaweed blades have stalks, lobes and serrations that so closely resemble land plants. Seaweeds are, in fact, entirely unrelated to land plants, and live in such a different environment.

Landsburgia quercifolia is a limited edition print - there will only ever be 30 prints made. Each print is signed, numbered and on trimmed A3 kraft paper (420x296mm).
